It's a competition between Delta Force and SEAL team 6. Both are very selective. Delta Force only accepts 50 or so new members from the ranks of the Green Berets and Rangers every year. SEAL team 6 only accepts members from other SEAL teams.

I was in the library once and this guy who apparently comes by often and likes to speak loudly tried to pass himself off as having been a member of SEALS team 6. Needless to say I was suspicious. I knew about the SEALs when I was a kid through the Charlie Sheen movie but it was the Green Berets that were best known. Now it's the Navy SEALs that are the talk of the town cuz of those crappy books that have been published. On the Rogan podcast he has a frequent quest named Stumpf who is a retired Navy SEALs officer and he says to avoid books with the Navy SEAL trident on it. A lot of these guys pretend they were in places and missions that they never were to sell their books. As Stumpf says, "I don't remember seeing you there." He doesn't name anyone but I have my suspicions. On the flip side I don't see many books published by former Green Berets for this period. I have seen a few by Rangers and Marine snipers.

The coolest special forces group is the one designated to save lives: the US Air Force Pararescue. They have the longest training period. I believe it's 2 years.

When an injured Airman needs saving from a hostile or otherwise unreachable area, it’s our duty to bring them home. As members of Air Force Special Ops, Pararescue (PJ) specialists rescue and medically treat downed military personnel all over the world. These highly trained experts take part in every aspect of the mission and are skilled parachutists, scuba divers and rock climbers, and they are even arctic-trained in order to access any environment to save a life when they’re called to do so.

The Colonel is correct here. I was unaware that SEAL Team 6 only accepts from other SEAL teams.
