The strange oddity about the modern day Frisians is that despite the name, they're not descendants of the ancient Frisians or the Frisi 2,000 years ago but rather are from the Anglo-Saxon migrants that lived in Friesland before many of them went to modern day England and becoming the English while those that stayed became the modern day Frisians. Hell, the Frisians and the English both speak Germanic languages that are the most closely related to one another called the Anglo-Frisian Languages which both the Enlgish and the Frisian languages belong to which is pretty cool for me.
