Normandy: Part of the Germanic world?

Historically, yes. The name of the region says it all. Also, the United Kingdom wouldn't have become a world superpower if it wasn't for the Norman conquest. The "Anglo-Normans" had a thirst for conquest like their ancestors.

Is there a difference between the genetic makeup of the Normandy and other neighboring french regions?

Autosmally I'm not sure but most likely similar to other northern French but paternally they have a higher % of Nordic ydna than other French regions.

What most people don't know is that I have a long standing interest in Afrikaners due to the Wilbur Smith novels I read as a teenager and young adult.

I am, of course, referring to those portions of canon involving Boer characters.

Boer is Dutch for farmer and they were masters at it especially regarding agricultural irrigation in southern Africa. Unfortunately they're being killed and the world is turning a blind eye.

Regarding South African farm attacks or Boers in general? As for farm attacks you can google or youtube that. I'm not sure if you know this already, but I assume you do, but the Boers were the first people to be put officially in what was coined as "concentration camps". The Dutch didn't even mean to settle in southern Africa in the first place. The reason they did was because of a Dutch merchant ship wreck so Dutch East India Company decided to establish a stopover for ships(Capetown) which brought farmers to the continent. It wasn't like they were going there to conquer the "primitives" or kill them off like other Empires at the time.

I'm most interested in the history of White South Africans, particularly Afrikaners.

Themes that arouse me include: Dutch East India Company, Cape Colony, Trekboere, culturo-anthropological insights into Afrikaners (but ones not primarily concerned with Apartheid).

Smith in general appeals to me. He's a go get 'em kind of man. He's not afraid to tell a woman that she has a lovely little bottom and invite her to lunch.
