It's just when all the most intelligent I know keep going on about how this is an ongoing issue in Universities it's more than alarming when a close friend who's just begun studying reporting all of the exact cancer I've been hearing people warn me about. It felt surreal to me honestly, like it felt like a they live moment.

Yeah it's strange. I'm also used to hearing about them in far removed contexts like videos. But when you see them in real life it feels very strange. I did know one dude in my freshman year who I was sort of friends with who was like that. I mean he wasn't some crazed hypersensitive lunatic but he described himself as a feminist and almost certainly believed he had some "privilege". We clashed a lot over those views.
