Some people in the Latin American "Left" can be very race conscious and - despite some of their rhetoric, be very wary of African/Indigenous people.

Likewise, some people on the Latin American right tend to be very nationalist, and that might actually be more inclusive of Mestizos/Indians/Blacks.

For a similar reason, in many Latin American/continental European countries, "Conservatives" tend to embrace a more patriarchal, religious view of society, while in the Anglo-American tradition, it tends to be more individualist and capitalist.

Btw, in the UK, although there are more hardcore racists among the working-classes, there are also more people among them genuinely willing to mix with non-whites (especially Blacks). In contrast, many if not most of the middle and upper-classes are just armchair liberals.

This is interesting since I met middle class Argentinians and Uruguyans and while they were progressive on those views(pro-women and LGBT) I doubt they think saying, "negro" is discriminatory or they would ever date a non-white etc, some of them have also made it clear that they do not see themselves as part of the latino or hispanic group but that they are sudamericanos and feel close connections with Spain and Italy. I don't think there's any 'Colorism' or discrimination talk (I know this is an American invention) but it's a useful term to use for discussion purposes.

In Uruguay calling someone negro is not an insult. You cannot compare us with USA, we don't have the same mindset.
