Why are Latin American "whites" classist/colorism while American and European whites liberals?

This is one of the biggest paradoxes I've experienced.

I've lived all around Latin America and noticed that most of their "white or european" middle and upperclass(Its hard to tell where Brazil falls) where very segregationists, discriminatory, insular and they even have their own nick names: gomelos, pitucos, fresas, chetos, cuicos...etc.

Meanwhile, in actually the United States and Europe(this includes mediterranean Europe Spain and Italy) most 'whites' middle and upperclass I've met where the most hardcore liberals, preaching anti-racism, white privilege, micro-aggressions.

On paper Latin American societies these are supposed to be "mixed" societies. However, I would say it would be much easier for a mestizo Guatemalan to date any American or Western European white girl(including the rich Ivy League one's) than it would ever be of him getting laid with any of this 'Latin American whites.' He could even make it on TV in both the US and Europe but never in Latin America unless he is playing the bus driver.

Because in most Latin American countries doesn't exist ley mordaza as US. I live in an latin american country and if my people said that most poors are shitskins (and the worst part, at least half of them are outsiders). Most of us would loose our jobs. At end of the day, whites or near whites would pay all the mess of this brown invaders.


In México "white mexicans" can said proudly that they are in the upper class and browns are poor. Also, white mexicans are free to blame browns of their problems.

You probably never visited Brazil... There's a lot of upper class white looking people here who are leftists/liberals; I've seen many girls dating balanced triracials and even mulattoes and blacks. Maybe not for getting married, but fucking them nonetheless.

Yes, I heard the Brazil is a bit different and it has become very liberal. I need to point that segregation is not by race, BUT yes by class. And they is a correlation between race and class.
Middle class would prefer to date with middle class and low class with low class because they have different priorities. In my country class is more important than race but their is a correlation.

Last thing. Most liberals in the non-racial sense(abortion, gay marriage, socialism) are whites or jews. While most conservatives could been non-whites since most of them are picking protestant religions.

This is interesting since I met middle class Argentinians and Uruguyans and while they were progressive on those views(pro-women and LGBT) I doubt they think saying, "negro" is discriminatory or they would ever date a non-white etc, some of them have also made it clear that they do not see themselves as part of the latino or hispanic group but that they are sudamericanos and feel close connections with Spain and Italy. I don't think there's any 'Colorism' or discrimination talk (I know this is an American invention) but it's a useful term to use for discussion purposes.
