If you are making 30k you're not hustling in the USA. That is why immigrants come to the USA... because Americans are lazy and they don't want to work in the service industry or work as electricians, construction workers, or skilled jobs that pay well. Immigrants come to take American jobs. I'm an American. I was born in Chicago. I have 40 1st cousins living in Chicago in and around Greek town. They are all cashing in. I have one cousin that makes $2,500 a week in Chicago running UBER out of ORD. When I was in college, I was cashing in on $1,000+ a week bartending, only having to work 3-4 days a week. I started as a bar-back. The only "real job" making $35k a year is high school, middle school, and elementary school teachers. If you are making $35k you're working a basic, entry level position like a receptionist or at the mall working at Macy's.

That's Illinois. Out west we have a $12/hr minimum wage that goes as high as $15.50 in some cities.

$37,000/year is the going rate for a Masters-level science position in the US. The only people I know doing better than that are highschool graduates in small cities who work in certain industries that have not failed.(...and foreigners, of course)

The only thing standing in someones way of making money in the USA is themselves. You need to change chairs and look at the table from a different angle. It's all about the money. That's why most of the old Greeks opened diners and restaurants. Don't be fooled... Greeks are the most successful ethnicity in the USA... because our kids are becoming Doctors and Lawyers.

Maybe people should stop trying to be a scientist and get a job that puts food on the table. I'm not being an asshole, I'm being serious. At one point in my life, I struggled, I worked 80+ hour weeks in restaurants. It's all about the hustle.
