This video shows a traditional way of making simple straight lap notch using hand tools in a full scribe log construction. This simple notch historically was not used in living houses, but in small sheds, cabins or saunas where it was not necessary to keep warmth during whole winter. For living houses was more tighter and complicated notches with added windlock mortice & tennon joint. We will uncover making process of more difficult notches (dovetail notch and Norwegian saddle notch) in further "How To" videos.
