Bulgaria makes its demands

Bulgaria lays out it’s conditions for approving Macedonia’s accession into the EU. They are:


-refer to the Macedonian language in the EU as the “Official language of North Macedonia”


-Remove any references to “Bulgarian fascist occupier” off plaques.


-Give up any claims to a Macedonian minority in Bulgaria


-Admit to and start the process of rehabilitation from Yugoslavia’s “de-Bulgarization” of Macedonia’s population.


-Create a common history and celebrations of Ilinden, Goce Delčev and VMRO.


-Censor any statements on official history and people per the judgement of Historical Commission

It will be interesting to see Bulgaria veto start of EU negotiations. It will be Greece 2.0. I think they'll back off once Germany gives them a stern talking to.

I don't see why either country (or Greece) should be a member of the EU anyway. All three have very little to contribute.

Interesting that the Dutch parliament has just approved the start of EU negotiations for Macedonia, but not Albania.

Its the corruption. High ranking officials just want to pocket the money that the EU offers.

I think Macedonia should have always just stayed out of the EU process and the mess that has come with it (name change). The effort should have been spent on getting investment into the country.

I would yes to NATO but no to the EU, just like the UK. The EU would be bad for Macedonia - population loss, refugee intake, economic restrictions etc .

Fair enough to NATO. Gives an extra protection to the sovereignty of the country from you know which group. But with the EU, it wasn’t as necessary. The corrupt politicians want the EU for one reason, for their own pockets.

I can't remember the last time that the Dutch parliament actually carried out the peoples' will. Within the Dutch general public there is 0 will to carry out EU expansion.
