It depends on your requirements. We have one within our household and for very long trips in regions with little charger infrastructure, maybe. Otherwise, no way. Day to day, BEV over hybrid. Far better performance, comfort and plug-in at night for cheaper home rates for charging. We have a free period from 9-midnight. Although people who live in apartments or housing without offstreet private carparking might disagree.

I need car for both city and long trips for business. Full EVs are unreliable for long trips and I dislike charging batteries since such infrastructure here lacks.

FTFY. BEV is far less likely to have a breakdown than an ICE powered vehicle.

No, I've heard bad things about them from people who bought one, and they are also too expensive so no way at least currently. Also my area has almost no charging stations which is a concern.

I would be much more likely to try a hybrid.

I was thinking about that last spring time but still ended to old-fashion gasoline car.

I might change that to use bio-LNG ... it is cheaper than gasoline and will not cause basically any pollutions. Plus it would be domestic fuel (Bio-LNG is a biofuel made by processing organic waste flows, such as organic household and industrial waste, manure, and sewage sludge). I like the idea..

Flex fuel cars is a good idea so you can put whatever you want during transition to bio ethanol and such, which is renewable and gives 25% more power, easily much more in the future as right now in comparison we only get piss poorly refined gas with low octane. Electric cars are too heavy, hybrids even worse, they all drive like trucks and actually terrible for the environement (if you really care about that) as well as safety since you carry exponentially more momentum with weight. 2 to 4 ton cars is just ridiculous, it's like having moving boulders on the road. A lot of people are gonna die because of EV's, even with small impacts on pedestrians.

I agree with Feiichy, at this time a hybrid is a better choice, in the US there are places like Wyoming where you can go hours between gas stations and basically no places to charge an EV.

Nah, who needs electric cars here? I'm buying 2012 VW Golf 1.6 next weekend from a friend on a mixed petrol/gas fuel system 2+ years without a car, but as soon as I left Moscow public transportation and especially buses make me annoyed.

Certain brands ran with ice styled heating and aircon that drained the battery significantly. Smarter companies use heatpumps which are far more economical. As for distance between chargers, the better ev manufacturers realised from start the bev is all about the software. Integrated gps with charge points always available to plan your trips. If you have a 300 to 400 km range, you can drive for hours between a charge too. The grid issue is less of an issue than many make it out to be. It is far less likely that all cars will be placed on charge at the same time than say everyone running aircon on a hot day. We need to make changes. It is in ours and the environments best interest.
