Default Peace in the Balkans ?

I am reading Dimitrije Tucovic's book ''Serbia and Albania'' , he was a Serb and had some really good ideas for stability and peace in the Balkans. He seemed like a reasonable Serb for that time.

A quote I really liked from him, mind you it is translated with google chrome from German so might not be accurate ... But the bolded part is very true though ...

''The conquest of Serbia, especially against the Albanian people, brought more experience of the great danger that every struggle between the Balkan peoples holds for both sides. At the same time it shows how hatred between peoples is fueled by the politics of the ruling classes.''

He had some other ideas basically like a Schengen Balkan ....

Something i have noticed long time ago too, take FYROM for example, it only exists because after yugo split some politicians wanted power, saw the oportunity and decided to create this fakely ancient macedonian identity.

Memories of war are still very much alive in the Balkan region. Peace and stability can only come with social progress in my opinion. If people are granted a stable life and opportunities the need of finding scapegoats for their problems will decrease. There are Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian and Croatian diasporas in Western Europe and North America that interact with one another and some people even end up building unusual friendships between so called sworn enemies so reconciliation is not impossible but definitely a slow process.

Have you never crossed path with a Serbian in Norway?

I don't believe they are Ancient Macedonians but I believe they are Bulgarians. I don't really care though about any of that or ancient Balkan. If people wanna believe they are Illyrians, Thracians, Greeks or whatever then go ahead. I don't really care any more what people think of Albanians. Though it's obvious even South Slavs are mixed with natives.

It just shows Balkan people have nothing else to do so identifying with some ancient people or other people's accomplishments gives some sense of self worth or identity, I guess.

Yeah, several times actually, one of them was my teacher at one point, both him and his wife were teachers ....

Had no problem whatsoever. I remember he mentioned something about war in the class and about learning to live together , I also remember he told a story how his brother was in the army and was actually killed by Serbs themselves because he wanted to leave or something .... He never wanted to go back to the Balkans again.

I actually believe these stories because this also happened on the Albanian side where some people were killed by radical types for not participating in the war .... also just look at Northern Ireland and what happened there, same shit. The IRA were pretty radical.

We must admit also that all sides had radical types. That took it too far.

I'm glad Kosovo now changed government and those corrupt criminals like Thaqi and Haradinaj are out.

Though the Serbs in North Kosovo still are fueled by hatred obviously and even once built a wall there, I saw on one side there was still a wall on the Mitrovica side, and the Albanian side a lot of times responds the same way.

They interact on Balkan as well (non-nationalistic part of nations, which are majority).

Ukraine war now for example, is similar case to war in Croatia. So, i guess similar will happen to Ukraine-Russian relationship.
From my perspective, its pointless war, just like Yugoslav.
