How White are Mexicans?

Certain areas of Mexico are like that. But most of the Mexicans I have seen in the US are like 90-100 percent Amerindian looking.

There are two reasons here:

1. They may not be Mexicans after all, but hispanic Central Americans (El Salvador, Nicaragua)
2. Mass immigration to US has affected lowest classes, where indios and indo-mestizos are dominant

Certain areas of Mexico are like that. But most of the Mexicans I have seen in the US are like 90-100 percent Amerindian looking.

Most states in Mexico look Amerindian. The main European Populations are in Sinoloa, Tejanos, Basque descendants on the Border including some Tejanos, Mexico City and the Coastal tourist areas. I have been to Mexico and even a lot of the Border people look Amerindian. People see Chicanos, which were rich and middle class Mexicans who a lot of times had German ancestry down the line and think that all Mexicans looks white, but only Chicanos look white in America all the unmixed Mexicans look like Injuns.

There has been a huge migration of people from central and southern Mexico to the north (and no, it´s not a temporary step before entering the USA) since the middle of the 50´s, because it´s the more industrialised and rich region of the country.

The cities of Ciudad Juárez or Tijuana didn´t existed before the 50´s. So it´s natural that they look "amerindian". Ciudad de Chihuahua is a whiter place than most of the frontier cities, for example (mexican-latin american standard)

Also the americans most times can not distinguish an amerindian from a mestizo (as in the USA they can not distinguish between mulattoes and blacks, and they label them as the same)

Um, I guess Northern Mexicans tend to be more European than those in the South, but what I've seen the genetic results from Mexico city at least is that Mestizos are genetically far less uniform than those in countries say in Chile. In other words, a Mexican who identifies him/herself as a Mestizo can be nearly 100% European genetically which can say that being a Mestizo in Mexico is more or less an ethnic identity regardless of genetics. I mean, I could be wrong about this so take this with a grain of salt.

Not sure where you live , but the Mexicans I see daily look between 55-75% European.
