Outdated trope. These are not the days of Frances Trollope.

That is right mate, at the end of the day American males are on the whole either awfully overweight/obese or on steroids. Slim and elegant is rather dashing where overweight or muscle bound is quite peasant-like. The former is abysmal and the latter is beastly.

I come from the oldest and finest of families of Virginia which were descended from the landed gentry of England, so I don't think that's the reason.

What do Y'all think?

you are objectiving your opinion here. I mean what does even a beauty standard mean? I bet most people in Britain dont even to look like Colin Firth lol, looks pretty average.
The most famous English male models/ actors are David Gandy- looks Italian or sm, and Hanry Cavill- can play the American Superman role...

here a group of famous British male models- outside of the obv. Scottish looking guy, they all have random Model faces and the blonde guy could play Robert Redfords son.

I'm talking more about actors than models. (In Britain, unlike many other countries, there is still a clear distinction between the two).

I assure you, it is not. From an outsider's perceptive, England is regarded with much more respect than America is. The most common view of Americans is that they are ignorant, racist, lazy and fat. Just look at the OP, he is literally a fat ignorant racist.

The U.S. shamelessly make a profit out of their degeneracy making shows called my 600 pound life.

And celebrating it with shows like My Big Fat Fabulous Life.

    Hot and Heavy

As well as other shows like these which helps in making the masses, ignorant.

These are the sort of musicians, the industry pushes for American youths to regard as their role models.

How is the U.S. not a nation of peasants?

Actors do not exist for setting beauty standards ( but Hanry Cavill does to some degree and fits into the same mold of dark haired Superman type/ old Hollywood type)
