US will ‘abandon’ Greece as it did with the Kurds, Russia’s EU ambassador warns

Russia’s EU ambassador Vladimir Chizhov has criticized a defense deal signed between Athens and Washington, while warning that the US might “abandon” Greece, as it did with the Kurds in Syria.

In an interview with TASS news agency on the sidelines of a conference on Rhodes island Tuesday, Chizhov said Greece was “wrong” to sign the revised defense deal with the US.

“You need to ask the Greek side why they made such a decision. But I do not rule out the possibility that they did so amid tensions between the US and Turkey. However, this does not mean that this decision is well weighed for the future,” Chizhov said.

Turning to Turkey’s military offensive in northeast Syria, the Russian envoy added: “We had warned the Kurds that the Americans will abandon them. And here, in Rhodes, I can personally warn the Greeks about it, that they will have the same fate as the Kurds.”

Whoever still trusts Washington is a fool. I don't like them - but we should work with Putin and China: they, at least, have real financial interests in Europe.

Regardless, I think Turkey would make a mistake in attacking Greece. Kurds are a minority group within certain states in the Middle and Near East. They will get some sympathy votes at most. Greece is an independent sovereign nation with its own organised military. A Graeco-Turkish War would be highly complex with enormous ramifications for both countries.

Greece is also in the EU. An Attack on Greece is an Attack on the EU.

And who do you think are in control of Washington? Let's ask Sheldon Adelson and Paul Singer on that.

    Here is this fragment:

    /
    - The position of Russia and the European Union on the settlement of the conflict in northeast Syria obviously coincides. Both sides favor its resolution through dialogue. Are we ready to negotiate with the EU on this issue?

    - That's right, we need to solve the problem through dialogue. Another thing is that the European Union does not include the government in Damascus as partners in these negotiations, but we, of course, include it. We are ready to mediate between Ankara and the Kurds, and between the Kurds and Damascus. By the way, we warned the Kurds that the Americans would deceive them. And here, in Rhodes, I can personally warn the Greeks about the same, let them think about whether a similar fate awaits them.

    - By the way, about the Greeks. In early October, during a visit by US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo to Athens, the parties signed a new defense cooperation agreement. How does Greece, Russia's traditional partner, explain such a move?

    - I think this is a mistake, but this is my personal opinion. Of course, the Greek side should be asked about the reasons for making such a decision. But I do not exclude the possibility that they did this amid tensions between the United States and Turkey. However, this still does not make this decision thoughtful for the future.

Greece, along with the rest of our allies, should abandon the US first to be honest.. I don't see how any nation can trust us given our long history of coups, interventions in the internal affairs of other nations, betrayals, and mass war crimes....

Today, the very wise man Donald Trump rules in the United States. I think that Russia is doing wrong by reproaching Trump for his humane act of withdrawing troops from Syria. In the place of Trump, President Bush would bomb all of Syria to hell.

Abandon is a silly word as they won't lift a finger and everyone knows it.

Greeks dont calculate outside support if a conflict errupts with the Turks. The only thing that might happen is Bulgaria mobilising mechanized infantry in Thracian front to protect their borders and of course Kurds and others will be opportunistic.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph. 6:12

Definition of untrustworthy and loose character are those that don't believe in God.

LOL are the US and Greece jointly fighting a battle in the field somewhere now? The agreement has nothing to do with NE Syria and ISIS.
