Ottomans did not give two shits about anyone's race or identity, all they cared about were their religion, the earlier states such as the sultanate of rum or the beyliks already done that. just look at Trabzon, the only Christian kingdom the ottomans conquered, they just islamisized them. just look at the city names, %99 of the place names in trabzon remain unchanged. unlike western anatolia.

It depends. My buddy( it's called Badi in Turkish military slang, it means smth like the closest friend) was a Kurdish guy with Turkish accent and he was prone to be assimilated himself he said. I keep Kurds like him no different than ethnic Turks, since we are already a made up society. I think Kurds keeping their identity moderately and having good parentage are not problem. I dislike Kurds having 6-7 children in poverty and expecting state should give him everything. As an ethnic Turk, I can't have such a luxury, so they shouldn't have too. Turkey can get better by strict border policies, deportation of refugees, most immigrants, secularization of every Constitution especially education, family planning by limiting children at 3, empowering Turkish workers, etc. However, these are not useful for Turkish bourgeois. Pragmatist bourgeois can't be really nationalist. I'm a field civil engineer, I started to see more and more foreign workers cheaping down value of Turkish workers which is sad.

They are just normal people.. at the end of our respective and brief lives' arcs, 99.9% of us were never anything but part of the exact same subset (with respect to our thoughts/feelings/actions/experiences...).
If you see a post in red font made by my username, that means that it is Pompey's post, not mine.
