Lol. Only the Brazilian richest 0.5% can afford such a house. This is not upper middle class by any chance there. If you earn the equivalent to 7,000 dollars a month after taxes, you are already in the Brazilian 1%. It's hard to afford an 800,000 dollar house when you are making "just" 7,000 a month.

There is a large nominal middle class, but the cost of things is so high that it is actually hard to live a middle class lifestyle even if you earn a middle class income because of things like having to buy a car, paying for kids' university expenses (or having them take loans for it), potentially private school, health insurance, etc. And the number of millionaires compared to almost anywhere in Europe (in a relative sense) is much higher, but it is still a small number of people.

-Buy used car, only what you need for basic transportation
-Same for a house
-Offspring can join various military branch and after a relatively short stint they pay most of the tuition costs. No debt.
-If they really like, do 20 years and you retire at 38 years old. Often you end up doing the same job for a private
contractor for triple the pay, and now you have a lifetime of benefits.
-Obamacare ruined affordable health insurance for small business owners and self employed. Those premiums are insane.

Not everyone is a Millionaire... but in comparison to the rest of the world, the standard of living for the average American is extremely high. Nowhere else in the world are the homes and apartments as large as the USA. In America, everyone has a car. In America, if you need to make $800 - $1,000 per week, you can make it being a waiter or bartender at Applebees. The dollar takes you a long way in America. You can't make money as easily in Europe than you can in the USA.
