Bavarians are ruling Germany. Here it is more like a bluff obviously. That sounds like a pre-emptive, intelligent Catholic initiative to prevent the north-central Protestant German separatism beforehand, now that United Kingdom triggered the dissolution process of the old incumbent order.
Until 5 years ago, people had completely forgotten about the 30-Years War. Now you see that it is becoming a hot discussion again. You hear about how the German Lutheran city Magdeburg was genocided by Catholics, how Swedish King intervened in Protestant side and avenged, how Finns vs. Croats fought in Germany during that war etc.

It is not by chance. That is all planned obviously.
Actually, Germany was great and strong when it was Protestant and Prussian. Ever since the Catholic Bavarian NSDAP took over, Germany has become like France. Germany is not bright and great anymore.
The French are trying to hide but they were very happy around 1930's and 1940's when they saw that Prussian Protestant Germany stopped to be, in favour of the Catholic 3rd Reich. With the Vichy Government, the French had clearly expressed their happiness for a ''Charlemagne revivalism''.

Vichy is also said to have actively partaken in rounding up Jews bound for Auschwitz.
Yet the Catholics were short-sighted. They couldn't foresee that the Anglo-Protestant world had a deal with the Jews. Then Anglo-Judean block supported the USSR and Catholic Franco-German side was crushed by 1945.

For the sake of the old Turco-German Alliance and Partnership, the Turks would be happy to see the rise of Prussia again. They were our friends and ally. To this day, +600 German Imperial army martyrs (Prussian army in other words) of WWI are resting in Istanbul German cemetary near the Bosphorus. But on the other hand, since 1950's the Turks also developed close friendship with Bavarian Germans too. Difficult affair!
