Ancestry's 201 New Nordic Regions

Pretty damn excited for this update now, if it will ever come out. If it can pinpoint the specific Norwegian fylker I have ancestry from with the same accuracy as it predicted the Irish counties I have ancestry from, I'll be impressed.

For some reason Ancestry gave me more Norwegian than Swedish, I'll be interested if they actually pinpoint regions in Norway lol

That was a pretty common problem afaik Swedes would score half of their DNA as Norwegian and vice versa because Ancestry literally couldn't distinguish between them. Did you look at your beta leaks while they were active? I thought I had the same issue but reversed (I score a small amount of Swedish (6%) on Ancestry despite having nothing on paper-trail), but I've still got a similarly small amount in the new update apparently, so maybe it's legit. Will be interesting to see if I get assigned a region for that
Also, I can see the exact kommune that I supposedly have ancestry from in Norway (Gjemnes) and it's only got a population of 2000 people, so I'll be very surprised if they manage to actually narrow it down that specifically. It makes me wonder how many Scandinavians have taken the test since last year for them to have massively expanded their database like this.

Interesting I looked at my beta and got swedish, Norwegian, anglo saxon, and volga ural (the same regions I have currently). I forgot what the percentages were though. Hopefully they get this update out soon.

Oh yeah I have Germanic Europe in my current results but I can’t recall seeing that in the beta

They're apparently implementing the update for existing users starting tomorrow, so I'd start checking from then. Also wtf is volga ural? My results are basically the same except my French disappeared and Anglo-Saxon went higher.

Volga ural is just code word for their Finnish/northwest Russian

Seems not just the new communities but I believe the full update is currently being rolled out. I just compared myself to a relative, and I got a pop up indicator that my relative had a different version of the estimate.

I think you're right. People who have taken the test very recently (i.e. in the last few weeks or so) are already getting their new estimates, hopefully won't be long now until the rest of us get one too
