As for CE, well I've been to many Central Euro countries (those counted as such, right). Well, I don't see uniformity in that region. So I'd say it doesn't really exist.
When I came home from Germany recently, I felt familiar vibes as soon as we entered Slovenia. Because western Slovenia is very similar to where I grew up in.

And Slovenia is counted mostly as CE country. Well, it is really not similar to Germany for eg. So most of these groups are BS.

Every country is closest to their neighbours, amen.

I have a feeling Slavonia is one of most Balkanized regions in Croatia tbh. And I've never been there, except in passing by. Maybe I'm wrong.
It's historically east-central ofc. But kind of like Vojvodina, I feel it became very Balkan.

yeah, but that rather shows lack of knowledge or interest than reality. Most foreigners are quite ignorant about Croatia.

Because Germany is rather West Europe. CE is not just geographical term, but culturally and historically too. Central Europe is between East and West in half way. In my opinion CE is Poland, Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

Croatia is a very small country, people in this part of Europe know a shit about whatever geopgraphically speaking. And Croatia could not be an exception.
But now with internet all is easier to learn, discover etc. Also now people travel more, and Croatia specifically is a good destination.

In any case Croatia and Slovenia even if have Balkan mentality, history, a common past with neighbors, similar architecture, gastronomy, language, etc etc, are a bit different than the rest of Balkans + Greece and Romania. Religion is the correct one, economies are better, etc etc.
