Yeah I agree (for Croatia it would include just northern half obv). East-central is okay name. I think closest fit for Croatia would be transitional east-central to southeastern.
Germany is complicated I guess, depends who you ask.

If you ask Teutone or Kyp they will say they are west Euro because they are wessies (and feel close to eg. Dutch), if you ask Rothaer he'll say he is central euro and feel close to eg. Czechs.

Ive been to every balkan country and been several times to most of them. I think Ive been to Croatia like 20 times and for example in Albania 5 times. The rest are in between mostly. So It is true that Croatia doesnt feel as balkan as for example Bosnia and Montenegro but it still doesnt feel central european at all. Its a more sophisticated, western version of balkan but its still balkan. Slovenia is CE for sure. Its even more western than Hungary.

Lucky you, you saw more than me!

But these places are rather Meddish, aren't they? Slavonia excluded. And Rijeka is a story of it's own.
I mean, is Croatian coast or Istria really similar to Albania, Kosovo , Macedonia and such places?

I'm genuinely curious because I have never been to these places so I could be ignorant.

Yes, exactly. Croatia doesn't have German cultural background to such extent to be regarded as central Europe, there is only an overlap.

I dislike divisions and like to keep things simple.
To me we are the westernmost Balkan country. No region in Europe is uniformed, Netherlands and France ( two countries where I lived) aren't exactly the same, on contrary, extremely different is some parts, yet both are pretty much western European.
