By basing the current murder rate of Brazil as the rate recorded by august this year, the yearly murder rate would be set at 17.88/100,000 inhabitants in the next 12 months if there is little to no alteration. In 2017, Brazil's murder rate was as high as 31.5/100,000 according to some sources and it didn't vary much monthly. This means the murder rate has almost halved in less than 2 years.

I think this is the greatest reduction in homicide rates in the History of Latin America. Not even post-Escobar Colombia managed to lower its then atrocious murder rate this fast. And the good news is the reduction in Brazil has been steady and continuous every month and almost uniform as all states have been experiencing more peaceful days. I can only hope this trend lives on and the national murder rate can be lower than 10/100,000, the limit rate considered "acceptable" by the UN.
