Why did I feature Salvatore's, 'The Halfling's Gem' in my signature?

Because it holds sentimental value for me.

R.A. Salvatore's, The Dark Elf Trilogy arrived by courier during my first psychiatric episode.

I was not so much interested in reading or liking the novels (Homeland, Exile, Sojourn), as I was interested in the idea of liking the novels.

Reading the Dark Elf Trilogy never held any fascination for me, but the idea of being a guy who reads Salvatore, fascinated/fascinates me - and the idea of being a guy who is an intense Salvatore aficionado, fascinated/fascinates me most of all.

My hypothetical Salvatore aficionado is member of the same subset as are Timothy Treadwell, Mark Vistorino, Tommy Wiseau.

To give our colleagues some context, it is a scene from the movie, The Room, produced/financed/directed by and starring, Tommy Wiseau, who plays the long haired main character.

In the scene, the supporting actor (top) relates something serious to the main character, who in turn responds bizarrely.

It is part a matter of my own identity being disturbed, part a matter of my own sense of self never crystallizing on account of being too excited by other potential or alternative senses of self.
