    Germans?
Were they Orthodox like you guys at least?
It is like Greeks, in 1820 they also got their share of German royals.
After Bulgars melted inside the Slavic majority by year 850, all concept of blue blood was lost owing to usual Slavic low classness. Thus, upon resurrection of monarchy, it is not surprising that it ends up with imported and transplanted nobility.

Ferdinand was Catholic, but his son Boris later became Orthodox. Simeon and his wife are Orthodox.

Bulgaria's greatest achievements and greatest expanse was precisely after Christianisation and Slavicization.

There was no problem with the Slavic Bulgarian tsars and noblemen. Amazing rulers like Ioan Assen II were ruling Bulgaria long after the total slavization of the Bulgarian ethnicity.
We should actually thank your ancestors for annihilating the aristocracy of the Second Bulgarian Kingdome. Practically NO ROYAL BLOOD remained, because thanks to your ancestors 1) Bulgarian aristocracy was killed or enslaved; 2) run to Serbia, the west or Russia; 3) Islamized voluntary or forcefully and forgot its Bulgarian consciousness.

I don't see a problem with the fact that the monarch was German. Most of Europe was ruled by German monarchs anyways. The anomaly was that big part of Europe was not ruled by German monarchs for centuries - the Balkans .
