Mexicans in NYC do not embrace Caribbean Hispanic culture, that they LISTEN to bachata and reggaeton is totally different from them opening Caribbean Hispanic restaurants, using Caribbean Hispanic slang etc
in NYC, it is extremely common to see Latino street vendors selling Mexican snacks, and you can go up to them and ask them where they are from, majority of them are from South America, especially Ecuadoran
you can go to many of their Caribbean/Central/South American restaurants and they will at least have ONE mexican snack or dish

so I dont know what you are even talking about, you clearly havent traveled enough like you make it seem, I doubt you even travel outside your moms basement
not to long ago, there was a "mexican" restaurant that received some backlash because the owner was discriminating black customers, you would think that the owner was a Mexican but nope, the owner was a Colombian immigrant who settled in D.C and opened up a Mexican restaurant, since our culture actually generates MONEY in this nation

and Becky G doesnt speak Caribbean Spanish, she speaks like the typical 2nd+ generation Mexican American who didnt grow up speaking Spanish
she has been speaking like this since day one LOL

I went to Latino-majority high school in Queens for a year. Majority of students were tri-racials from Caribbean, mostly Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. South Americans were second largest group, mostly Ecuadoreans, Brazilians, Colombians and Peruvians. In my entire generation there was only one Mexican student (born in Texas), as far as I remember.

So practically no Mexicans and no mainland Central Americans either.

There is a huge difference between us, not only pheno wise but also culturally
in the east coast, Latinos emulate African American/Black West Indie culture to the bone, they never ever created their own sub-culture thus the lack of culture among them
Everything they do and how they dress and speak is all from Black Americans/West Indie influences
Culturally speaking, they have not made any impact at all

on the West Coast, we have our very own sub-culture called Chicano culture, this culture is what many on the West Coast emulate especially street/hood people
our slang, culture, traditions, accent, fashion, car and tattoo culture is copied by everyone out here, from blacks to asians to whites to other non-mexican latinos
we are the Black Americans of the East Coast in which our impact runs deep, and like Tupac said, L.A wouldn't be L.A without Mexicans

other Latinos like Cuban "chongas" are emulating Chicano chola culture for example

our style and fashion was even copied by African Americans like Aaliyah, Left Eye, Snoop Dog, The Game, NWA, TuPac etc
nobody has copied Caribbean Hispanic fashion because their fashion is 100% African American with Chicano influences in particular the female Caribbean Hispanics
even Ivy Queen says her style is a bit influence by Chicano cholos and shes obsessed with cholo movies

    We are California

They do listen to Reggaeton(can hear it in every restaurant/Colombian bakery sometimes) and true they don’t open Caribbean based restaurants, it hasn’t really impacted they’re cuisine as much when it come to food.

Puerto Rican’s and Dominicans I usually went to school with were mulattos with probably some Puerto Rican’s being Triracials, the rest of them Central/South Americans were on the mestizo spectrum. You must be from an older generation when they’re wasn’t as many Mexicans and Central Americans.
