Czech minority and it's role in defence of Croatia
Daruvar, town in Western Slavonia, is a traditional centre of Croatia's autochtonous Czech minority. During Croatian war of indipedence town came under fierce attack of rebel Serbs from surrouding region. In the opening stage of war in West Slavonia ethnic Czechs made 50% of defenders of Daruvar region. During September 1991, 75% Police Officers in city of Daruvar were of Czech ethnicity, most of them volounteers.
Massacre in Ivanovo Selo, September 1991
Ivanovo Selo (in Czech: Janova ves, German: Johannisdorf) is oldest Czech settlement on Croatian territory. It as founded in 1825. by immigrants from Bohemia, Moravia and Austrian Silesia.
During attack from Serb rebels from neighbouring villages, supported by Yugoslav People Army, 14 civilians were executed, all Czechs by ethnicity.
