Czech minority and it's role in defence of Croatia

Daruvar, town in Western Slavonia, is a traditional centre of Croatia's autochtonous Czech minority. During Croatian war of indipedence town came under fierce attack of rebel Serbs from surrouding region. In the opening stage of war in West Slavonia ethnic Czechs made 50% of defenders of Daruvar region. During September 1991, 75% Police Officers in city of Daruvar were of Czech ethnicity, most of them volounteers.

Massacre in Ivanovo Selo, September 1991

Ivanovo Selo (in Czech: Janova ves, German: Johannisdorf) is oldest Czech settlement on Croatian territory. It as founded in 1825. by immigrants from Bohemia, Moravia and Austrian Silesia.
During attack from Serb rebels from neighbouring villages, supported by Yugoslav People Army, 14 civilians were executed, all Czechs by ethnicity.

Occupation and war crimes against Hungarians of Eastern Slavonia - Laslovo and Korođ

Laszlovo (Hungarian: Szentlászló) is one of oldest Hungarian settlements on territory of modern-day Croatia, dating back to Arpadian Era. It has been continiously inhabited by Hungarians, and it was vital point on defence of Osijek, largest city in eastern Croatia. Because of it's strategic position, village came under attack of Yugoslav army and Serbian-paramilitary units, one of them infamous Arkan's Tigers. Due to courage of it's defenders, Laslovo resisted much stronger enemy for 152 days, completely encircled and cut off from rest of the region.

Numerous Hungarian and Croatian soldiers lost their life in defence of the village, and when they realised they can't defend it any longer mixed group of soldiers, wounded and civilians tried desperate breaktrough towards free Croatian territory. At the same time 6 elderly inhabitants (3 women, 3 men) who refused to leave their homes were executed on spot after Arkan's Tigers stormed the village, buring infrastructure and houses.

10 people of Laslovo are considered missing until this day, of them 6 soldiers and 4 civilians.

Erdut massacre

The Erdut killings were a series of murders of 37 Hungarian and Croat civilians in the village of Erdut, Croatia committed by Croatian Serb forces and Serb Volunteer Guard paramilitaries between November 1991 and June 1992, during the Croatian War of Independence. Twenty-two Hungarians and 15 Croats were killed. The first killings occurred on 10 November 1991, when twelve civilians died. Eight more were killed over the following several days. Five more civilians were killed on 10 December, and another seven on 16 December. Four others were killed on 21 February 1992 and the final one was killed on 3 June. The bodies of these victims were either buried in mass graves or thrown into nearby wells.

Korođ (Hungarian: Kórógy) and it's inhabitants during Homeland war

Korođ is togheder with Laslovo very old Hungarian settlement in eastern Slavonia. During 1991, war came to the area. In nearby region was discovered mass grave with remnants of 208 people, mostly Hungarian and Croat locals who fell victims to Serb irregulars and Yugoslav army attack. After village fell into enemy's hands, majority of surviving population fled towards nearby Hungary and other territories of Croatia not touched by war.

Local Calvinist church was razed to the ground, but has been repaired since. Despite war being over more than 20 years agom Korođ never reached wealth and it's pre-war population.
