Slavic is simply a linguistic affiliation nothing more. Hungarians are not Slavs, no matter how they look.

It was huge country in the past, or even Austria-Hungary was the biggest european country in 1910. You can find every kind of assimilated/magyarized people here what existed in Habsburg Empire including bosniak, croat, serb, german, slovak, romanian, polish, czech, ukrainian, its not rare if a hungarian has such family background.
