Slovenia is small and doesn't stretch far south. It has been historically under German empires and border between Slovenia and Croatia has been the border of HRE for a long time. From personal observations I did on matura.hr I would also exclude Pannonian Croats from wog zone since they're basically at Hungarian level (and not far from Slveones). Coastal Croats are noticeably darker and those are the regions almost all foreigners ever visit so that's why I think Croatia has a darker reputation that reality since Pannonian part which is seldom visited is more than 2/3 of the population.

Yes, very correct. That's why I was angry. You could say southern Croats are borderline wogs, but not the rest of Croats (who are population majority).
Only 20% of Croatian population lives in Dalmatia. And tourists almost never visit main region of Croatia -central/NW part, not to mention Slavonia.
But Istria and Kvarner aren't dark. They are same as western Slovenians (native Croats, not immigrants who are plenty). Btw, coastal Slovenians are swarthy in comparison with regular Slovenes. People look mix with Italians there. But it's super tiny part of Slovenia so it doesn't matter.

Croats enjoy a good reputation on these boards. I remember a Swedish poster on anthroscape, being surprised by the fact he saw light people in Dubrovnik, so southward

Yes, according to Škerlj coast Slovenes have the most dark types 44% compared to 36% for whole Slovenia. But overall light eyes are still high (51% according to Weisbach and 53% according to Škerlj) still higher than Zagorje which is at 47%. I'm getting an impression Slovenians might have relatively lighter eyes while Croats relatively lighter hair.

This is further supported by regional combination of Slovenia. Dolenjska most close to Croatia has the highest share of dark eyes & light hair combinations (aside from the capital), while Gorenjska furthest away from Croatia the highest share of dark hair and light eyes.
According to my research Croatian North Adriatic is at East Slavonia level in eye pigmentation. I might also do hair pigmentation of Croatia. So far, I've done only Zagreb and it's 14,7% blond (males only) with 1077 samples. Not far from XP's number for what he labelled "light hair" specially since the capital may be a tiny bit slightly lighter than Croatian average like it is in eye color. TNH also found 14%. Everything seems to fit quite well.

The figure for dark eyes ( brown or hazel) for Britain is about 22% according to recent studies. The vast majority is light - eyed. With the Scottish having even lower frequencies than the English for dark eyes. A more recent study puts the British at 17% dark - eyed. So you made a good point.

Come on. A person of Southern and Southeastern European descent is a WOG! As these were seen by people of British Isles who are for the most pale - complexioned as “dark”. It was later extend by some racist freaks to those of Middle Eastern and Northern African ancestry. The term WOG is just derogatory, there is no scientific backing for it.

Remember before this, Benjamin Franklin an American of British descent considered all non - British Europeans as “non - Whites!”. He was ignorantly racist. He had no scientific backing for it.
