    Default Tips for Geneva?

Just booked a short 3-day trip there over the New Year and wondering if anyone's been before, and if so, what your general impressions of the place were and if there's anything specific you'd recommend doing while there. I've only driven through Geneva once so I'd appreciate any knowledge that locals or previous visitors might have to share. Thanks

Thanks! Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated also, it's not related to my OP but since you mentioned it: I'm going with two friends to {place modified after request of another user, sorry - Hithaeglir } next July, if you have anything specific you would recommend to see/do there I would love some suggestions for that place too!

For Geneva the things that you should see:

The Old City, full of ancient houses, that have hundreds of years of existence. In that are there is the Cathédrale St Pierre that you should see. Brunswick monument, the clock in "flowers" near the lake, Basilique Notre Dame, le "Jet" d'eau obviously (you can approach him), le mur des Réformateurs, palais des Nations.

Museums : Musée des Beaux-Arts de Genève, beautiful museum with renowned swiss artists like Ferdinand Hodler, Vallotton or Liotard, but also Veronèse, Rubens, Pissaro, Monet, Cézanne, Corot... Very extensive antiquity collection with many egyptian and near-eastern objects very important. (You can see the catalog here :http://www.ville-ge.ch/musinfo/bd/mah/collections/)

Museum d'Histoire naturelle : museum that contains several animals embalmed, fossils... A whole section dedicated to exoplanets and astronomy (the first exoplanet was discovered by a swiss born in Geneva, Michel Mayor, he has received the 2019 Nobel prize)

Museum of Nations Unies : Visit of the Nations-Unies building of Geneva

There is also the museum of the Reformation with several historical objects related to Calvin and the Reform era.

There are also other museums (like the modern/contemporary art museum) that I will not mention but you can still search on internet.

Not that far from Geneva : Yvoire, a splendide castle on a lake, classified as one of the most beautiful villages of France. You could go also to Evian-les-Bains, a very nice thermal city with buildings of la "Belle époque" (beginning of 20th century).

You could also go to the Salève mountain, a cabin will lead you to a splendid panorama that encompasses Geneva, Jura and Mont-Blanc.

Samnium was great and probably gave me more advice than I'll be able to use in the short time I'm staying there, but I'll bump one last time just in case anyone else has any experience with the city or has a recommendation for something to do. Thanks once again
