Why Does Everyone Hate the English?

I never actually noticed this so-called British hatred in the US. Most Americans I've met have either a positive or neutral position toward England. At worst, an American might make fun of Brits for seeming effeminate or dainty, but I see no outright antipathy.

People from their former colonies dislike them because of their divide-and-conquer politics and their pretension. It is taught in Britain that the British had always intended to give their colonies independence, they were just waiting patiently until the people learned how to govern themselves. I watched a documentary about the British Empire in India and the narrator actually made this very claim. I was shocked. My Indian Ocean history professor, who was Dutch, said, "That's because you're an American. This is what they believe and teach in Britain."

The germans do not hate them. I dont think the scotts or welsh do. The irish probably dont like them but toned down on it I think now in modern days.
