The best soldiers to me will always be the ones who sacrificed their lives for this little country in the westernmost part of Europe. The Portuguese army, with its origins going back to the 12th century, is considered as one of the oldest armies in the world in continuity. If you ask me it has done a pretty good job, since its foundation it has managed to keep our sovereignty for nearly nine centuries and I am sure that there ain't more than ten nations from the old world that can claim the same.
