At one time probably yeah, proto Bulgars and Magyars dominated those area, but in present not really, since they were raped and deleted by Slavs and other Balkanite/Euro nations.

The latest study/2016/ of ancient mitochondrial DNA samples from 160 antique samples, half of which are Thracian and the other half are Proto-Bulgarians. A V T O R E F E R A T of dissertation work https://www.bulgari-istoria-2010.com...%20Nesheva.pdf Unfortunately it is only in Bulgarian. Table 2 on page 31- Results of probo-Bulgarian samples tested by the classical method. Table 3 page 32- Results of tested Thracian samples by the classical method
Table 10 page 40-41- Number of persons belonging to mtDNA haplogroups and sub-haplogroups in the sample of 37 populations included in the PCA analysis compared with Proto-Bulgarians The comparison is made between the results of the survey of Pro-Bulgarian populations and another 36 separate populations from Europe and Asia. The comparison was made on the basis of 22 haplogroups (H *, H5, HV0, HV, R0a, JT, U1, U2e, U3, U4, U5a, U5b, U6, U7, U8, U *, K, N1, N2, X , M and L). The Bulgarian samples included in the comparison are 19. They exceed the sample quality limit by 80%. Table 10 shows the 36 populations from Europe and Asia that are compared the Bulgarians. The number of individuals carrying a haplogroup is indicated. Based on the comparison, a chart of the principal PCA components (Principal Component Analysis) is generated which coordinates the position of the Bulgarians among the other populations. Their relationship and proximity to contemporary Bulgarians is determined (Figure 30, page 53 in Discussion)
Table 11 presents 36 populations from Europe and Asia that are compared to the Thracians.

1. Flags
– The Bulgarian flag was copied from the Russian flag, and the blue one was replaced by a green one
The resemblance is pure coincidence. Like Romania, Andorra and Chad
2. Hungarians are a mixture of Bulgarians and Magyars(Ugric people)
3. Bulgarians are not Turko-Mongols(as some users wrote)
The earliest mentions of the Bulgarians
– Quintus Curtius Rufus writes about the Thracian tribe Balagres(Balacri, Palacri), which participated in the campaigns of Alexander the Great (but it is speculative whether these are Bulgarians)
– the second half of II century–live on the territory of Wallachia
– 354 AD–Ziezi ex quo vulgares ("Ziezi, of whom the Bulgars")
– 378 AD–Emperor Valens fought against the Bulgarians around Edirne
– 396–The Bulgarians defeated the army of the Lombard king Agelmund in Kaposvar
– 480–Emperor Zeno concluded a pact with the Bulgarian king Buzanios against Theodoric the Great
– 513-515–Vitalian with an army of Bulgarians, Huns and Bessi attacked Constantinople
– 610s–Krobatus raises a revolt against the Avars and restores the sovereignty of Bulgaria
