    Just a little starry-eyed.

I agree, Kubricks Shining is one of the best King film adaptations (even if it differs from the book).
It's funny but not surprising that King is PC because his Black characters are either savages or magical negro stereotypes. The Black kid in It may be an exception.

Its not Kings fault when they make charackters which are white in the book black in the movies.

My Top 5 Stephen King books:

    The Stand
    Hearts of Atlantis
    The Dark Tower
    The Institute
    IT

Most of the movie adaptations suck, but Misery was good.

Stephen King is not a great author. You could pretty much edit out 20% of his novels. He drags things out. Do I really need to know so much detail about a character that isn't important to the story? Move the story along, mother fucker. I tried reading It and it's so bogged down with irrelevant information that I stopped halfway.

I've read The Shining. It wasn't great, either. I enjoyed the movie better.

I've liked a number of his short stories, however.

What King is good at and it's what makes him very popular is that he's able to make his characters real to the reader. In that regard, he's very good.

I am not a fan of novels of Stephen King. All of his that I have read or tried to read bored me out of my mind, I prefer the movies based on them. I did enjoy though many of his short stories.

I would like to read The Dark Tower as the descriptions seem to suggest that it might be something that I'd like.
