the whole concept of the "Fall" of the Roman Empire is questionable in and of itself. The Roman Army was outsourced to "barbarians" who eventually became quite romanized in their own right. the "barbarians" still held loyalty to the Roman Empire and the man who became king of Italy did so in the name of and as a vassal of the Eastern Roman Emperor and they still held true to roman customs and traditions, minting coins in the name of the Roman Emperor and keeping the Roman Senate in place. All this to say that the idea of marauding barbarians raping their way through Italy is very likely not true to a significant extent, the affair in 476 can be better described as a coup than a barbarian invasion and conquest. But of course since we're talking about ancient times, I'm sure some of the warriors had a field day raping after any battles or sieges and of course the Huns or other groups with no loyalty to Rome would have likely done so as well on a large scale.
