The language (or "dialect" as we say in Italian) is Neapolitan. My mother speaks it and I understand it.

The boy's name is "Giuseppe Ben Salah", from his last name I assume he is not of local descent, although there are obviously southern Italians with the same complexion or features.

There's some reports this replacement happened way earlier
300 BC roman sample is already plotting with east meds

Could be the Roman pyrrhus treaty which allowed ionians(hellenized anatolians) from Naples and Campania to flood rome.
Naples was the first City to fall to rome

After punic war this would have increased heavily since romans lost so many men to hannibal

I won't be surprised if the Romans who defeated mcaedonians and burnt Corinth were like anatolians already.

Remeber, naples already fell by 320 bc to rome, and the last greek city fell by 270 bc (taranto)

Fall of Naples would have allowed flood of ionians and hellenized anatolians to rome
And by 180 bc,Romans will already plot with anatolians most likley

Unfortunately this study only shows sampled until 300 bc,it after it,which is the most important part.
