The average American : vulgarity, an unwillingness to walk away from a fight, bluntness, certainty that America is exceptional, mistrust of intellectuals, their love of simple ideas that work, and their refusal to believe that men and women are interchangeable and with no ideology except getting the job done. Their goals are to do the task before him, not be pushed around, and otherwise to enjoy life.

That is a pretty ugly picture but it is true. Nothing much to like about average Americans.
