Well, as far as I know this one has its roots in the Monarchy of the North, or "Kingdom of Traulitania", which was a short-lived loyalist kingdom declared by portuguese monarchists and integralists in the aftermath of the coup that overthrew the Portuguese kingdom. I'm not a monarchist myself, but as long as the monarch is a good man, I see no problem with it. Anyways, the kingdom was destroyed and soon the Republic itself would be "reformed" under Salazar, which turned it into a way more acceptable state. As I said, not all Republics are good, and not all kingdoms are bad.
Wake up and smell the coffee.
