In islam you could married with 9 years old girls at the discretion of her parents. So you can better become acquainted your future wife and it doesn't mean immediately have sexual intimacy with her.

I was wondering why the map says "Underage (16 or younger) marriage is illegal" for most European countries, because the age of consent is 17 or higher in only a few European countries. However apparently many European countries have changed their legislation within the past 10 years so that the minimum age for marriage is now 18: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriageable_age#Europe. I guess no-one cares anymore that if a girl under 18 becomes pregnant, she now either has to get an abortion or give birth out of wedlock (or turn 18 before giving birth).
Japan is colored yellow, meaning "Underage (16 or younger) marriage can occur with parental consent and 5-10% of girls marry at age 16 or younger." There's no way 5% or more of Japanese girls are married by age 16.
Also who decides what is "underage"? Americans? It's biased that they used the color red to denote countries where getting married at an early age (by modern Western standards) is common, as if it would be a negative thing.

I wonder what is the source of that 5-10%...
