To be fair, Hispanic is a Med look to them and many of us WAs can look pseudo Hispanic. How do you think they should've perceived him as? White? Arab? Lebanese people are generally too light for Arab and too dark for White. So "Hispanic" is not so bad for them.

We have a lot of Cubans here, and they are generally dark haired, light skinned.

We also have South Americans and Mexicans too, but they are generally darker and live in the outskirts of the big cities.

In Spain no mention to nationality or race except if the criminal has spanish nationality, if so, they mention an spaniard (despite most of these spaniards are inmigrants with spanish nationality or gypsies)

Public searching for criminals is not common in Uruguay, so Im not really fresh on how they describe the people. I think they ussually post the pictures so you can see them. Describing the physical apparence of someone here, or mentioning their foreign status is almost an offense, so they try to avoid it (that's my perception).

However, when you are pregnant, in the pregnancy document, (the one you carry everywhere so doctors have a general idea of your situation and health) the 2nd paragraph is "Ethnicity" and you can select "White" "Black" "Mestiza" and "Other".

On American TV they'll say either Black or White or Hispanic; occasionally they'll say "Medium complexion, possibly Hispanic or Middle Eastern"... I don't think I've ever heard them describe an East Asian...

But generally what you hear, if, say, a thug is caught by police while committing a violent crime, is "young Black man assaulted by White police officer"
