I have to write a term paper on him for my Psychology class. He was more of a pervert than I realized. Everything we do, all our motivations. It's the same thing with him: it's always sex, sex , sex!

Look at what he proposes

1.Orally (if we aren't satisfied we want more)
2.Anal (we are either expulsive or retentive)
3.Phallic (he believed children were obsessed with their no-no parts)
4.Latent (we tried to hide our sexual feelings and frustrations )
5.Genitalia (we try to bond sexually with someone and relate to their genitals as well as our own)

What kind of person believes all this? Not a very healthy one. Erikson made much more sense. Of course well all know Freud was of a certain ((( persuasion)))
I just had to plug my nose through all of this. The man needed therapy himself!

However, the concepts of the subconscious, drives, children possessing sexuality, and repression are all in modern psychology albeit in different more sophisticated forms.

Most modern psychologists view Freud as an historical figure and nothing more. His theories do not hold water across cultures and are not scientific. The only few relevant theories are personality disorders which could be the result of a stagnated stage of life. He was avid cocaine user and borderline pedophile.

No, it really isn't. It only has a certain ring of truth, but isn't applicable across the board. Read up on Erikson, Piaget, Bandura, and others, and you will find they have much more sustainable views on human development.
