No. Asians don't have always flat noses. Flat noses are an Australoid admixture. Like Melanesians have flat noses as well. It is not an inherent mongoloid trait.

Haplogroup R is where there are either mostly people with Alpinid traits, like Europeans and West Asians, or Mongoloid traits, like American Indians and central Asians.

I think he is sort of Alpine, sort of West Baltic. Not really Asiatic, no.

Yeah haha he is from my eastern side, Russian/Belarusian/Ukrainian mix. My grandma has always had a rumour that there was Tatar in the mix as well, though there are no records available unfortunately (record centre was bombed during WW2).

He reminds me of my Hungarian great-grandfather, born in what is now far Western Ukraine- that is why I suspected your great uncle was of Eastern European origin.
