To me in Victoria, yes. But the closest overall to the mainland Australia would be Indonesia followed by New Zealand.

Portugal, definitely. When I was in the US there was a large population of Portuguese where I lived and it made me realize we really are not that different, although generally Portuguese are a little more....introspective and reserved, perhaps? Spanish people are loud as hell and kind of obnoxious sometimes, and I say this with love, don't kill me, haha.
