This guy is a professional 'anti-racist' who quit the nazi/skinhead scene in the early 90s, so I doubt he knows anything about the neo-nazi scene in Europe today.
As far as I can tell from seeing him on TV before, he became a nazi skinhead as a kid because he was a loser and wanted to be a violent idiot.
I'm surprised there are still so many people willing to put this moron on TV. I think all these paid appearances are what he makes a living off of, since I have never heard him mention having a job.

Here's an interesting article, someone writing about his experience with this Leyden character. The author is a member of 'Youth for Western Civilization' (YWC), a mainstream campus conservative organization which focuses on issues like immigration, multiculturalism, radical Islam, et al.
It appears that Leyden is not a leftist at all, and has pretty ordinary citizen views on things, and is just doing this gig for the money. Honestly, who can blame him, it's not like he has a whole lot of other employable skills.

members of Providence YWC marched over to 64' Hall to hear TJ Leyden, a former Neo-Nazi skinhead turned anti-hate activist, lead a presentation on his life in the movement, how he left, and why "diversity" is a virtue. Although throughout the entire speech Leyden never once illustrated a single reason as to why he believes in diversity, the real fireworks erupted once the floor was opened for discussion.
I personally questioned Leyden on his association with the Southern Poverty Law Center and their infamous Hate Map, which often includes traditionalist marriage and patriotic immigration reform organizations. Leyden was reasonable and stated that although he works with the SPLC, he is not a leftist and does not agree with their assessments for what constitutes a Hate Group. He went on to state that he created his own map, and that this often excludes conservative organizations. Surprisingly, he then shared with us his view that America should put a fifteen foot wall on the border and that he is opposed to gay marriage on libertarian grounds.
As if on cue, a particular leftist in attendance who has had a longstanding infatuation with YWC, made a point to ask Leyden his opinion about our organization. Leyden seemed mildly confused as he had never heard of YWC, and I jumped in to address the crowd and stated YWC’s mission statement to the entire audience. Although Leyden issued the expected platitudes about learning about all of history, he refused to openly condemn us, which wiped the smile off of the face of every leftist in attendance.
