I always understood it to be the opposite actually - Muslims are disproportionately present among India's lower castes (who incidentally tend to be darker) and thus are looked down upon. In any case, aside from India's media industry, which does overwhelmingly select lighter-pigmented actors and models (though the same happens in neighbouring Pakistan, along with many MENA and Latin American countries too), most Indians are either neutral/indifferent or even actively hostile in their attitudes towards White people.

That's rather debatable. Before the British arrived, Kolkata was as or more wealthy and industrialised than many European cities; the British forcibly deindustrialised it and imported Indian cotton and exported high-quality products back to India, thus creating an artificial trade deficit in the process. And don't forget the famines like that in Bengal in the 1940's.

Budapest is great city, I just don't feel safe in many parts of Pest after dark probably due to being very cautious by nature and coming from much smaller city which by the way, I avoid after dark as well.
