Albanian gang arrested: dismantled the largest Marijuana plantation in Aragón ever
The National Police has dismantled in Aragón the largest marijuana plantation detected ever in this Autonomous Community: 16.000 cannabis plants, with a total weight of 3.5 tons, the largest amount of marijuana intervened in the region so far. The operation has resulted in the arrest of the six alleged members of the band of Albanian origin that had created that infrastructure dedicated to drug trafficking.
The macro-plantation consisted of a network of enabled fields in a remote area of pine forests located in the border municipalities of Murillo de Gállego (Zaragoza) and Agüero (Huesca). They depended on an Albanian organization that had outstanding members of the band on the ground who, day and night, permanently lived in camps to monitor the plantations and take care of the cultivation and collection of the drug.
According to police sources, these large fields were created based on cutting large areas of pinewood in remote areas of the forest, to make it difficult to locate them. In fact, accessing them was tremendously complicated. To get to them you had to go half an hour in SUVs and then another half an hour walking on footpaths.
In addition, traffickers had modified ravines near their plantations to collect water and guarantee a source of irrigation supply. To pump the water and have energy, they had autonomous electricity generation equipment.
The investigations that have allowed the dismantling of this large marijuana plantation began in April. Initially, the National Police was on the trail of the perpetrators of a series of robberies in establishments in the towns of Huesca, Sariñena and Nueno.
The police verified that in all cases they followed the same 'modus operandi', so they all related. The investigations allowed focusing on a band that, as was proven during the course of the investigations, was also dedicated to drug trafficking.
Finally, it has been allowed to find the members of this group of Albanian origin who are charged with a dozen robberies at gas stations and bars in Huesca, Sariñena and Nueno, and large-scale marijuana production in that area of pine forests on horseback between the provinces of Huesca and Zaragoza.
