Not true. Basques can be very dark in pigmentation but they have very light skin and many of them pass perfectly well as French, Iberians, N.Italians or even more northern countries. There is surely an interesting overlaping with British Islands, genetically Basques are even closer to some british islanders than to some french people/regions.

I'm no French Basque, but they're pretty much no different from us Spanish ones, as far as a simple PCA plot goes. Well, our ancestors either mingled with non-Europeans way less in comparison, or we have a lot of unique mutations which set us further apart. Guess both are a part of THE reason.

Why then do Germans cluster closer to Meds then? Is it purely because Rome influenced Germany and Britain while they didn't really intermix with the Basque?
