Rare portrait of teenage Mozart could fetch $1.3 million at auction

rare portrait of a teenage Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is going under the hammer in Paris this month and could fetch as much as $1.3 million.

Christie's, which is auctioning the painting on November 27, has set a guide price of between €800,000 and €1.2 million ($882,000 to $1.3 million).

The portrait, dating from 1770 and attributed to the Italian painter Giambettino Cignaroli, depicts a 13-year-old Mozart playing a harpsichord, wearing a white wig and red dress coat.
