Racially speaking Turkey assimilates in some extense to Latin America: three founding races, with many mixed people in different degrees, scarce pure types, and great regional differences (I don´t know if there´s class differences too)
I don´t know how are they culturally, neither leaning western or muslim-arab. But regarding their behavour, the turks I have known are very temperamental, which leans them to the Middle East.
Probably as Latin America, Turkey is a borderline western society, but with native characteristics that distinguish it enough clearly from western (or eastern european) ones. The economical development in both societies is similar, and there are striking similities like a partial drug-oriented economy, political fights between pro-western and nativists (the different types of "nativism" in LatAm could cover a book) and a post-imperial stage plenty of military coups and caudillos.

I don't know, I work with Turkish guys here in Italy (kebap restaurant near Milan) on average the guys I work with, have very dark traits or have very Asian features, people usually realize immediately that I'm not Turkish, yet I'm quite Mediterranean even if of fairly fair complexion and i am Southern Italian (Apulia) in any case I have never considered myself white, we are Mediterranean Europeans, it is very different, however it is very nice how they welcomed me, really like one of the family, I feel really good in that job, very kind people

It’s important to say, that on upcoming 8 April we will mark our national day. It’s disrespectful from Non Profit organisations to claim ,,international “ Roma day. We are one Nation, with one race for which we have paid huge price during WWII and with one language rooted to Hindi. We are the Romani nation. - Michael Daduc The Roma Nation Movement
Germany is showing us what could soon happen to us in Austria with a left-wing Austro traffic light. Do we want a situation where we can no longer choose the heating system, but we can choose the gender? Hardly likely! Only a strong FPÖ and a Freedom Party People's Chancellor will know how to prevent such nonsense. - Herbert Kickl FPÖ Bundesobmann

Turks, Armenians, Greeks then Italians from area between Sicily to Rome looks very closer.
that explains maybe this 4 ethnic group mainly belongs to the Pan Med type.
Only Turks and Armenians has connection with ME but
Turkey has connection with Balkans as Well
Today Turkey is White as much as it is dark and mena.
That applies to if it's not just that Whiteness means having blonde hair
As overall Turkey is white if you think as a whole Caucasian thing, but it may not be the other way round.
Actually Average Turk is pretty much Like Average Italian from middle regions of Italy
am i wrong?

There's quite a high chance you met a kurd, azeri or a very eastern Turk, dark features aren't really common among most Turks, even Levantines aren't really dark. I'm not gonna play the race game, but you likely met Turks but didn't realize they were Turks, but happened to just notice Turks when they look really dark, because the same thing occurs to me when I travel, I'm lightskinned and people don't associate me with Turks unless I say it.
