Do you understand what I'm saying here? When I lived in Queens I sent this voice note to a first generation Colombian-American workmate that I used to interact in Spanglish with, he replied: 'yo speak slower i can't understand shit' (sic) a Salvadoran-American girl once told me my Spanish accent is 'off' (her native tongue is English). Same thing with a lot of non-native Spanish speaking latinos and has never happened with a native Spanish speaker

Indeed, I think he probably sounds more like canarian....
I can't explain why but I have that impression...

I think he speaks with Puerto Rican accent. Is just that he speaks in a more educated version of this accent, since he is an upper class Puerto Rican.
