While I support continued membership of the EU, I do so only for technocratic and practical reasons, not romantic or ethnocultural ones. Anyone remotely familiar with my posts and viewpoints will know I find the idea of a monolingual, monocultural and single phenotype world utterly appalling.

Yes and no. In the UK there is (for good and for ill) a long tradition of left-wing Euroscepticism, as evidenced by Tony Benn and indeed Jeremy Corbyn himself.
